From 1962, this beautiful multi-page pamphlet announces several exciting new attractions to open- in 1962 and 1963! Each open page folder is devoted to the many exciting new attractions: the brand new Swiss Family Treehouse; the upcoming "Tahitian Terrace" next to a new and fabulous "Bird Room" restaurant that will be "Disneyland's sole reservation only" restaurant (Later called Enchanted Tiki Room, and never was a restaurant), the elephant bathing pool addition in the Jungle Cruise, and the future New Orleans Square and the Haunted Mansion. Of course the Haunted Mansion didn't open for six more years until 1969, this is a wonderful piece of optimistic reference of future attractions in Disneyland and just a great souvenir too. Interesting to see how plans changed over the years. 6 pages, nice and neat and colorful. Very rare item. Marc Davis art featured. Fantastic brochure.  This is only a small section of the four pages of printed text:

"
Yes, Walt Disney is turning more exciting ideas into entertaining reality in the Magic Kingdom ! In Adventureland and Frontierland, a great new expansionprogram is now underway . . . a development that will add $7 Million in new adventures for you and your family to enjoy
in Disneyland! Some of these new attractions - like the "Bathing Pool" of the Indian elephants pictured on the preceding page and the
fabulous "Stouffer's in Disneyland" Restaurants (below)-will open next Summer, early in June 1962... Others will be unveiled
in 1963. Because of this construction program, a few Disneyland attractions will be closed during your visit today. Horvever. you
rvill stili find the great majority of Disneyland's famous adventures operating for your enjoyment. And you are cordially invited to be a "sidewalk superintendent" at the construction work taking place. The Santa Fe & Disneyland train trip - departing from the Main Street Station - will take you "behind the scenes" in the building area... and also introduce you to each "land" in the Magic Kingdom
during your "grand circle tour" of Disneyland."

In fine condition.  Item # 3881, $175

John Hench Signed Mickey Mouse Imagineering Print

P1160323.JPG (58694 bytes)

Litho is a giant  31" x 25" size

Above:  John Hench and Walt Disney

Click any image for a better view
Personally signed by John Hench, this giant  31" x 25" lithograph has been stored in new condition in the stockroom of the Imagineering company store for almost 20 years!   This fine art litho was commissioned to mark Disney's first European theme park, Disneyland Paris, in 1988.  It was sold only to Imagineering and Disney theme park and studio employees, and the edition was limited to just 4200.  A few of these lithographs got tucked away in the storerooms the Imagineering company store and there they sat in new condition for nearly two decades.  We recently purchased a small number of these newly-discovered lithographs directly from Imagineering's "Mickey's of Glendale" employee store.

John Hench- who passed away in 2004-  joined Disney as a sketch artist in 1939. Over the many decades he contributed his artistic talents to animation, live-action film, and work with Walt Disney Imagineering.

Hench's animation contributions include background painting and special effects in Fantasia, Dumbo, Cinderella and Peter Pan, as well as collaboration with Salvador Dali on the proposed (but never completed) film Destino. In the live-action film arena, Hench received an Academy Award in 1954 for the lead screen credit in special effects on 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

In 1955 he moved to W.E.D. Enterprises (now known as Walt Disney Imagineering) to work on Tomorrowland for the grand opening of Disneyland.  As an Imagineer he worked as a conceptual artist, art director and executive truly epitomizing Ray Bradbury's description of Imagineers as Renaissance men.  Hench helped develop countless attractions, as well as helping to master-plan the development of Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland, EPCOT and Disneyland Paris.  Hench eventually became Executive Vice President of Walt Disney Imagineering.  An employee of the Walt Disney Company for more than sixty years, John Hench was continuously employed by Disney longer than any other person.  In 2003 he published a look back at his career with Disney entitled "DESIGNING DISNEY." He passed away in 2004 at the age of 95- still working for Disney.

This beautiful signed lithograph is printed on archival Strathmore Writing Cover stock and created with fade resistant, oil based process inks.  It is personally signed and numbered by John Hench.  Measures approximately 31" x 25".  Includes my Life Certificate of Authenticity.   Item # 3160, $69.95
