Autographed "THE STORY OF WALT DISNEY"--

In the family library of one of Walt Disney's Train Builders for more than 50 years!

Diane Disney-Miller's book, THE STORY OF WALT DISNEY is the closest thing there is to an official Walt Disney biography.  Signed copies are a great find.  Imagine Walt Disney signing- in effect certifying- his life's story!  This one is doubly special because it is also autographed by Walt Disney's daughter, Diane Disney Miller!  AND it was signed for George Bauer of the Disney Studio's prop department, who not only worked on Disney films but helped build the Lilly Belle locomotive and Carolwood Pacific Railroad rolling stock!

An email from Bauer's granddaughter is included:

"This is an autograph from both Walt and his daughter Diane,  personally inscribed to my grandfather... I was very fortunate as a young child: my grandfather, George Bauer, was very involved in bringing W.D.'s vision to fruition. My Grandfather was one of Walt's main pattern makers/carpenters. He also worked at the family's home, on Walt's private backyard train, and I remember he would invite my sister and I along. For some reason we never went..."

According to Michael Broggie's book, "Walt Disney's Railroad Story," George Bauer worked in the Disney Studio prop department, and helped build the Carolwood Pacific's cattle car, sheep car, two boxcars, and a flatcar.  He also built the wood patterns for the metal castings on the Lilly Belle locomotive.  P6120149.JPG (156612 bytes)

Walt Disney has personally autographed the book's title page with a huge signature in green ink.  Diane Disney Miller has autographed the same page.  George Bauer has added "Disney" after her name.

Bauer's wife has made interesting pencil notations on a couple of pages for her children's benefit.  For example, in the chapter discussing the Carolwood Pacific Railroad, she has written in the margin "Dad's train- He built all wood parts- Walt also did some of the caboose-  G put down the track etc etc."

This book is a first edition.  Book itself is in good condition with minor cosmetic wear to the top of the spine; staining to top edge of covers (see photos);  page 243 is torn; paper dust jacket is very worn and has been repaired with tape.

There is no thrill for a Disney fan than compares to reading Walt Disney's life story from a book that Walt himself held in his hands.  Very rare- it takes me several years to find one autographed by both Walt Disney and Diane-- and I've never seen one inscribed to someone who helped build Walt's beloved Carolwood Pacific Railroad.  The ultimate addition to any Disney book collection!  Includes the Phil Sears Lifetime Guarantee of Authenticity Certificate. Item # 6581, $3995
