"PINOCCHIO" Animation Model Sheet of JIMINY CRICKET, 1940
Click any image for a better view
Since the early 1930s the Disney Studio has produced model sheets of its animated characters and/or atmosphere and concept art for circulation among artists and animators working in production of an animated film. Before the 1970s they were reproduced by a photostatic or printing process. They were made when a character or setting was in development and to help animators maintain a consistent look to the character throughout the film. This photostat model sheet titled "Revised Cricket Model / Pinocchio F-3" was made at the Disney Studio during production of Pinocchio, and it was issued to animators "3-20-39" for use in drawing Jiminy Cricket. Ward Kimball, one of Walt Disney's master animators known as his Nine Old Men, supervised the animation of Jiminy throughout the film, and the drawings shown in this sheet are his work. Our certificate of authenticity is included.  This photostat model sheet is an original produced at the Disney Studio during the making of PINOCCHIO!  11" x 14".  Shows light handling; fine ccondition.  Item #5638, $199

This photostat model sheet titled "Bambi Final Thumper Model" was made at the Disney Studio during production of Bambi, and it was issued to animators "6-7-40" for use in drawing Thumper, Bambi's companion. This particular model sheet was issued to animator Preston Blair, and he twice wrote "P Blair" on it in red and black pencil. Mr. Blair began his career in animation with Walter Lantz and Charles Mintz in the 1930s before joining the Walt Disney Studio later in that decade. He animated on shorts, Fantasia (1940), Pinocchio (1940) and Bambi (1942), with screen credit on the first two features. He left for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer as a result of the 1941 strike to join the unit of Fred "Tex" Avery. The drawings shown on this sheet are the work of Milt Kahl, one of Walt Disney's master animators known as his Nine Old Men, and "M.K." is included in the "Character Model Dep't" stamp at upper right. Our certificate of authenticity is included.  The model sheet has been mounted to board, and there is some discoloration; light surface wear: very good condition. This photostat model sheet is an original produced at the Disney Studio during the making of BAMBI!  11" x 14".  Item # 5639, $149

This is a 1937 Original!  Not a Limited Edition Reproduction!   Not a Modern Piece!
PC030088.JPG (66778 bytes)A beautiful original production cel actually used in the making of Walt Disney's SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS. This original 1937 cel features a very large full figure of Dopey set against an airbrushed wood background as prepared by Courvoisier Gallery. Courvoisier was the Disney Studios official retailer of Snow White cels soon after the movie's original 1937 release. Only a very limited number have been selected to be placed on the market. Walt Disney."  Dopey measures approximately 8" diagonally.  Matte measures approximately 14" x 12" overall.  A small area of pain separation at the bottom of left leg and matte is discolored; otherwise very fine condition.  Includes the Phil Sears Lifetime Guarantee of Authenticity. This is a 1940 Original!  Not a Limited Edition Reproduction!   Not a Modern Piece!
A terrific original production cel actually used in the making of Walt Disney's PINOCCHIO. This original 1940 cel features a full figure of Jiminy Cricket set against an airbrushed background as prepared by Courvoisier Gallery. Courvoisier was the Disney Studios official retailer of Disney cels from the end of the 1930's through the mid-1940's.  Courvoisier Gallery selected only the finest poses and so now over 70 later, much of the very best that survives from the Disney's classic PINOCCHIO are the cels prepared by Courvoisier.  This cel was used in the making of the sequence in which the Jiminy finds Pinocchio at Pleasure Island's pool hall learning how to be a delinquent from Lampwick.  When Jiminy can't get Pinoke to listen to his conscience, Jiminy declares "You buttered your bread, now sleep in it! ... I'm through.  This is the end!"  Jiminy is already on the floor at this point, but Courvoisier has airbrushed an 8 ball in the background as a reminder of the pool hall scene in which this cel was used.

The original 1940 label on the back reads, "This is an original painting on celluloid from the Walt Disney Studios, actually used in the Walt Disney production of PINOCCHIO.  It is one of a select few that have been released to art collectors."  Jiminy measures approximately 4.5" tall.  Matte measures approximately 13" x 12" overall.  In very fine condition.  Framed.  Don't confuse this with the lower quality Jiminy Cricket cels created for the Disney Sunday night television shows of the 1950's and 1960's-- this is an original from the classic motion picture!  Includes the Phil Sears Lifetime Guarantee of Authenticity. Item # 5633, $1795

Special U.S. shipping charge on this item $14.95.  Foreign shipping $59.95.  Automatic checkout will not calculate foreign shipping accurately.  After you place your order we will email foreign customers for additional shipping payment.

The art for this serigraph cel was carefully selected by Disney artists from the actual 1942 animation drawing used to produce the original film. The artists used the master print of the film as their color guide. The serigraphy artisans created separate screens, one for each color, from which the edition was created, one color at a time. By using the meticulous serigraph silk-screen process this beautiful result was achieved.  After this edition was produced, the screens used to produce it were destroyed to ensure a true limited edition.  Measures 14" by 11".  Disney seal of authenticity in lower right corner.  Top left corner is has two creases extending about 1/2" inch which would easily matte out.  Includes the Phil Sears Collectibles Lifetime Guarantee of Authenticity.  This sericel was originally sold with a white background; in addition we will include a complimentary color photocopy background.  Item # 4629, $59.95

Considered by many critics to be Disney's finest film!  This beautiful sericel will add Disney smiles to any room.
The art for this serigraph cel was carefully selected by Disney artists from the actual 1940 animation drawing used to produce the original film. Measures 17" by 11".  Disney seal of authenticity in lower right corner.  Also includes the Phil Sears Collectibles Lifetime Guarantee of Authenticity.  This sericel was originally sold with a white background; in addition we will include a complimentary color photocopy background.  Item # 4632, $69.95
