Walt Disney Autograph from Mineral King Presentation

Walt Disney has boldly autographed a sheet of paper printed with the words "Don't Say It - Write It" with a huge five inch long signature.  Included is an email from the previous owner stating, "I have a Disney autograph from 1966 when Disney was in Porterville making his presentation to the Forest Service for developing Mineral King."  (The owner later corrected the year to 1965.)

Disney's Mineral King Ski Resort was a project developed by Walt Disney in the 1960's.  Disney's bid to develop the gorgeous valley in California's Sequoia National Park region won out over those of other developers, having the largest plans. In additional to hotels, restaurants and ski lifts, the Disney touch included entertainment such as a theater housing an audio-animatronic band comprised of musical bears.  Marc Davis developed this concept for Walt Disney, and eventually it appeared at Disneyland and Walt Disney World as Country Bear Jamboree.  But Disney's Mineral King was not meant to be.  Environmentalists lead by the Sierra Club blocked the project.  After years of legal battles between pro-development and preservationist groups, the Mineral King Valley was annexed into Sequoia National Park in 1978 by an act of Congress, effectively blocking it's development.

The autograph has been matted to an overall size of 14" x 20" as shown at the top of this page.  Some bleeding of ink to the "y," otherwise fine condition.  Includes my Lifetime Guarantee of Authenticity.  Item # 3823, $1499
